Us Scares Up $7.4 Million In Thursday Night Previews

Jordan Peele’s Us is off to a scary good start. The latest horror entry scared up a stellar $7.4 million in Thursday night previews.

This figure beats the preview nights of The Nun ($5.4 million), A Quiet Place ($4.3 million), and it’s ahead of the midnight previews of Paranormal Activity 2 ($6.3 million, 31% of its $20.1 million Friday for a $40.6 million three-day). Us’ Thursday figure is also $300,000 shy of Halloween‘s $7.7 million previews (that repped 23% of its $33 million Friday for a $76.2 million opening weekend).

Comparing it to none horror movie preview numbers, Us beats the preview nights of some Marvel movies such as Thor: Dark World ($7.1 million) and Ant-Man ($6.4 million). Keep in mind this number is for a horror film & a gross like this is nearly unheard of for the genre. Us goes wide at 3,741 theaters today. I predicted an opening of $55-60M but it honestly could surge higher at this point.
