Get Out surpasses 1999’s The Blair Witch Project as the highest grossing debut film with an original screenplay. Get Out is the first film that is written and directed by Jordan Peele and managed to accumulate $100 million in its first three weeks of release. However, according to a report from Forbes, as of March 31st, Get Out has surpassed the $150 million mark which breaks the record held by The Blair Witch Project for nearly 20 years. With a budget of $4.6 million, it is easy to say that Get Out is a box office smash hit.
