The Vampire Diaries ended its eight-year run on The CW with its best ratings of the season. The finale delivered a 0.5 rating in adults 18-49, up a tenth of a point from last week and 1.19 million viewers, also a season high. A series retrospective at 8 p.m. ET drew a 0.4.
The Vampire Diaries was the first big flagship for The CW. At its peak, its freshman season, the show drew upward of 4 million viewers and had a 2.0 rating in the 18-49. Its audience, which has since eroded in total, has also started skewing more and more digital. (The eighth and final season also doubles its showing with live-plus-7 ratings.)
Not a bad way to end its 8 season run and I’m sure it will see a lot more viewers once delayed viewing is factored in.
