Reel TV Ratings: (Sunday) – Brooklyn Nine-Nine Returns To Season High, American Idol Holds Well In Week 2

Brooklyn Nine-Nine returned from a three-month hiatus Sunday and scored its best adults 18-49 rating of the season in the process.

The FOX show, which aired on Tuesdays in the fall, scored a 0.9 in the 18-49 demographic, and 1.93 million viewers building slightly on its Simpsons lead-in (0.8, 2.07 million viewers). Brooklyn Nine-Nine hovered in the 0.6-0.7 range on some Tuesday airings so this has to be a win for the series which is looking to pull a fifth season renewal.

Elsewhere on FOX, Family Guy scored a 1.0 demo rating and 2.31 million viewers while Bob’s Burgers (0.7, 1.69 million viewers) and The Last Man on Earth (0.7, 1.61 million viewers) each scored the same demo rating.

On ABC, American Idol led the night in adults 18-49 at a 1.8 demo rating and 7.74 million viewers, down half a point from its premiere the previous week on Sunday but even with the Monday, March 12 episode. This is pretty much where ABC thought it would land so the reboot is a win so far for the network. Deception (0.9, 4.15 million viewers) fell 0.3 from its premiere but it did win the hour among the other networks.

On CBS, Instinct premiered to a 1.0 demo rating and  8.79 million viewers. That would put it slightly ahead of the average for Wisdom of the Crowd (0.9) in the fall. Instinct’s 8.79 million viewers were also the most for any entertainment show on Sunday. NCIS: Los Angeles (0.8, 7.98 million viewers) and Madam Secretary (0.6, 6.37 million viewers) were in line with recent performances.

On NBC, Timeless slipped a tenth week to week with a 0.7 demo rating and 2.87 million viewers.
