Ticket Sites Crash As Avengers: Endgame Pre-Sales Set First Hour Records

Us movie nerds will wake up as early as it gets and prop ourselves right in front of a computer screen in order to be one of the first to score something before anyone else does. In this case, it was pre-sale tickets for Avengers: Endgame that went on sale today along with a short new trailer that had records already being broke and websites crashing as they tried to keep up with the high demand.

Atom Tickets is reporting that in the first hour, the Marvel movie has set a record for the mobile ticket retailer. To date, Avengers: Endgame has sold three times more tickets on Atom in the first hour of pre-sales than Avengers: Infinity War did last year. The first hour of Avengers: Endgame presales also outstrips Atom’s first hour sales for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Also reporting huge sales is Fandango and they’re also one of many sites that crashed today as everyone was clamoring to buy their tickets early. Ticket buyers are getting a 503 error code on AMC, and some users on Atom and Fandango are having difficulty as well. That’s a sign that business is strong, and it’s par for the course for any ticket retailer’s sites whenever there is a rush for a hot new movie. You would think their servers would be prepared for the rush but maybe the rush was even bigger than they realized it would be. If you’re still having issues, just keep trying because the traffic is probably dying down throughout the day.

Avengers: Endgame opens April 26…in case you’ve been living under a rock.
