Lionsgate To Release Rian Johnson’s All-Star Knives Out Fall 2019

Rian Johnson’s murder mystery thriller, Knives Out, which features a killer all-star cast, is set for a Fall 2019 release date via Lionsgate and MRC.

Lionsgate has dated the film over the Thanksgiving holiday on November 27, 2019. In the film, Daniel Craig plays a detective trying to solve a murder and the ensemble cast includes Chris Evans, Michael Shannon, Lakeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Ana de Armas, Christopher Plummer, Katherine Langford, and Don Johnson.

The film is a big get for Lionsgate as there is a lot of buzz behind the film, which was also written by Johnson. Given the Thanksgiving holiday release, the studio is probably hoping to replicate the success of another murder mystery ensemble hit, Murder on the Orient Express. That film opened about two weeks before the holiday to $28.6 million but legged it out to gross $102.8 million at the domestic box office.
