Following a rocky year for its host, The Wendy Williams Show will be staying on daytime TV through 2022. The talker has been renewed for two more seasons.
The news was announced on the same day that the show kicked off its 11th season on air. Wendy Williams had this to say about the renewal:
“I’m so excited to launch our 11th year by letting the world know I will continue to do what I love to do so much and for a very long time. I want to tell Fox and all of our stations today how much their support and confidence means to me. They should know we will never stop working very hard to bring our dedicated Wendy Watchers and audience co-hosts the freshest national daytime television.”
The renewal comes after a very rocky year for Wendy Williams herself. She took an extended hiatus from the show to focus on her health and revealed that she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease, an immune disorder that causes hyperthyroidism. Williams returned from her TV break in March and shortly after revealed that she had been living in a sober house. She capped off her rocky year with the announcement of her divorce from her husband after it was revealed he had cheated and fathered a kid with another woman.
Despite the tough year, Williams has come out of it better than ever and the demo strength of her show has only increased as her audience has rallied behind her. The renewal of her show comes during a crowded time for syndicated daytime talk which include shows from Kelly Clarkson, Tamron Hall and Mel Robbins.
