The Sopranos Prequel The Many Saints of Newark Character Details Revealed

While The Sopranos has been off air for over 10 years, it is still talked about often and still considered one of, if not the greatest show of all time. While fans have been clambered for a film to be released, the unfortunate death of James Gandolfini put this plans on hold.

However, earlier this year, it was revealed that a prequel film titled The Many Saints of Newark was in the works. Now more information has been revealed by The Hashtag Show regarding the films characters. A young Tony Soprano will serve as the central character of the film. The film will have a timeline playing out over many years, it will begin with a 9-year-old Tony, and the latter 16-year-old version of the character would be build as a “budding linebacker” on the school’s football team. According to the timeline set by the HBO series, this effectively places the events of the prequel film between 1968 and 1975.

Another returning character will be Dickie Moltisanti, the first cousin of Tony’s wife, Carmela. While Dickie’s role in the show is minor, his death brings about a key storyline by having Tony take in his son, Christopher which culminates in the season 4 premiere.

A new character to The Sopranoverse known as Aldo Moltisanti will be another lead character, described as an elegant, mid-60s wiseguy. The character is said to be Tony’s grandfather, branching out the family tree we know from the TV series even further

Production is set to begin in March of 2019, therefore more news on casting and characters in the film should be released soon.
