The Masked Singer Continues Its Upward Trend On Wednesday Night At Fox

I usually try to change the headlines for the daily ratings on the particular night being showcased but Wednesdays clearly belong to Fox’s The Masked Singer and it’s continuing to grow into one of the highest-rated shows on network television.

On Fox, The Masked Singer remained the night’s no. 1 show with a 2.1 demo rating, up one-tenth from its 2.0 rating a week ago. The offbeat reality singing guess-who series also scored 7.22 million total viewers. It should be noted that, other than Thursday Night Football and Sunday Night Football, The Masked Singer is the only show across network television that airs Monday-Sunday that is scoring in the 2’s in the 18-49 demo. That’s either the sad state of television right now or just a big win for Fox but either way, this is where we’re at. Fox can’t brag for the whole night however because Almost Family continues to squander its huge lead-in at 9:00 PM. The series scored a 0.7 demo rating and 2.48 million viewers. The good news is that it’s steady week-to-week but Fox has to be upset that it bleeds away so much of what The Masked Singer begins the night with.

The good news didn’t just belong to Fox last night. NBC featured a three-show crossover for its Chicago Wednesday’s series and all three of them benefitted. Chicago Fire moved up an hour for the crossover and scored a 1.3 demo rating and 8.07 million viewers. Chicago Med followed it with a 1.4 demo score and 8.83 million viewers, leading into a new Chicago P.D. at 10:00 PM, which rose to a 1.4 demo rating with 8.63 million viewers well. All three Chicago shows saw season highs in the demo for their respective episodes.

On CBS, Survivor hit new season highs in both the adults 18-49 and total-viewer measures with a 1.4 rating and 8.83 million viewers, up from the 1.2 and 6.51 million viewer audience it scored last Wednesday. SEAL Team similarly moved up from its previous 0.6 to a 0.7 demo rating and 4.49 million viewers while S.W.A.T. capped off the night for the network with the same 0.6 demo rating and 3.60 million viewers as its last outing.

On ABC, Schooled (0.8, 3.43 million viewers) and Modern Family (1.0, 4.19 million viewers) both managed to tick up one-tenth from their ratings a week ago, while The Goldbergs (1.0, 4.15 million viewers), Single Parents (0.7, 2.81 million viewers), and Stumptown (0.6, 2.81 million viewers) all stayed even week-to-week.

On The CW, Riverdale fell from its season premiere’s 0.4 demo rating to a 0.2 demo score and 830,000 viewers this time around while Nancy Drew also dipped down from a 0.3 to a 0.2 rating and 810,000 viewers.

Recapping this week’s Wednesday ratings, it’s clear that The Masked Singer is still king and all other programming must bow down before it. NBC had a great night with its Chicago crossover while CBS and ABC also saw steady results. The CW dip is a little concerning but The CW shows tend to do well on digital and delayed viewing, especially Riverdale.
