This Is Us Gives NBC Its First Golden Globe Drama Series Nomination In 10 Years

This Is Us has been the darling of the new fall television season and it continues its freshmen winning streak with the Golden Globes nominations that were announced today.

For NBC, the best drama series nomination for This Is Us is the first time the network has been nominated in that particular category in 10 years. The last NBC show to get a nomination in this category was Heroes back in 2006 for its first season. The family drama scored three Golden Globe nominations total, with Mandy Moore and Chrissy Metz both picking up nominations in the Supporting Actress category.

This Is Us is a genuine hit for NBC. It’s averaging a 2.6 rating in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and 9.56 million total viewers just in Nielsen’s Live-Plus-Same Day ratings — it generally adds on another 2.0 in the demo and 5 million viewers once viewing within seven days is counted. It’s also the first show the network has had that actually build on the audience from The Voice in the 18-49 demo. The show is clearly striking a chord with its target audience.
