The L Word sequel series, The L Word: Generation Q, is sticking around at Showtime. The cable network has renewed the show for a second season. The news comes ahead of the season finale on January 26.
The renewal news also comes with info on how well the sequel series has done for Showtime since its launch on December 8. Showtime Networks President of Entertainment Jana Winograde revealed that the launch of The L Word: Generation Q drove the network’s biggest weekend of subscribers sign-ups in 2019.
Based on The L Word, which aired on Showtime between 2004 and 2009, the new series followed the intermingled lives of Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals), Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig) and Alice Pieszecki (Leisha Hailey), along with new characters Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi), Micah Lee (Leo Sheng), Finley (Jacqueline Toboni), Sophie Suarez (Rosanny Zayas) and Gigi (Sepideh Moafi), as they experience love, heartbreak, sex, setbacks and success in L.A.
No return date has been set as of yet but season two received a 10-episode order from the network.
