The Batman May Be Set In The 1990’s

While we are little over 2 years away from the release of the upcoming Matt Reeve’s The Batman film, rumors have begun to make the rounds regarding the premise of this film. It has been revealed that the film may take place in the 1990s.

Reeves is reportedly looking to cast someone that is 15-20 years younger than Affleck following the confirmation that the actor is officially hung up the cowl. Along with the film being set in the 1990’s, it has also been rumored that the caped crusader will be facing a slew of villains, including the Penguin, who will be the primary antagonist.

Discussing Film is reporting that The Batman will take place in the ’90s and will revolve around Batman trying to crack a mystery which brings the hero back to his detective roots, with the intention of making the film a noir.

Reeves is set to cast a young, unknown to play the role of Bruce Wayne. As with casting a younger Bruce Wayne, they’re also looking to cast younger versions of James Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth.

The Batman is intended production start date sometime towards the end of the year. This checks out with its target release date of June 25, 2021.
