Christopher Nolan is back with the release of the first trailer for Tenet, Nolan’s latest big-budget blockbuster that is sure to be another impressive entry in a very esteemed filmography.
Warner Bros. isn’t being that coy with Tenet, as this trailer (along with the IMAX-exclusive prologue attached to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) is setting up what the film has to offer with seven months out until its release. Nolan is a proven box office player who not only made his Dark Knight Trilogy into a success but also is one of the rare filmmakers out there who can make a hit out of original material as well.
While Tenet is still shrouded in some mystery, the new trailer gives us some idea of what it will be about. The film is being described by the studio as “an action epic, revolving around international espionage, time travel, and evolution.” Reportedly, John David Washington’s character has sacrificed himself in order to protect some secret, and the plot sees him trying to prevent something much worse than the nuclear holocaust. As for what the title Tenet means, it appears to be a secret word that will open “the right doors…some of the wrong ones too” on his mission.
In addition to Washington, the film stars Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clemence Posey, Michael Caine, and Kenneth Branagh.
Tenet hits screens on July 17, 2020.
