It’s time to hang it up! USA Network has announced that Suits has been renewed for a ninth & final season. The final ten episodes will air sometime this year.
The decision to wrap up the legal drama starring Gabriel Macht arrives as showrunner/creator Korsh has Pearson, a spinoff fronted by original star Gina Torres. A premiere date for the spinoff has yet to be determined. The second half of season eight of Suits premieres January 23.
Suits is the last of the “Blue Skies” series on USA Network. It was a term used to describe scripted originals that also included Necessary Roughness, Burn Notice, Psych and Covert Affairs. The network is shifting to darker & edgier fare so it makes sense that Suits is ending its long run. Many thought it was going to end when original stars Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle departed after season seven but it has soldiered on.
