Shooter Canceled At USA Network After Three Seasons

It looks like Shooter is out of ammunition. USA Network has decided to cancel the series after three seasons.

The series, based on the 2007 feature film of the same name starring Mark Wahlberg, weathered multiple obstacles during its three-season run. The series premiere was delayed multiple times in a bit to be sensitive following mass shootings in the country. By the time the show premiered in October 2016, it had the unexpected benefit of feeling very timely. The first season helped the network improve its Tuesday numbers with an average of 2.6 total viewers and 974,000 in the key demo.

Season two, which jumped 133 percent in the emo and 96 percent among total viewers, was cut short by two episodes after its star, Ryan Phillippe, broke his leg. That led to a super-sized season three of 13 episodes, up from 10 and 8 in seasons one and two. For season three, the show saw a drop and ranked as the lowest-rated drama on the network in the 18-49 with 471,000 viewers and a total of 1.5 million overall.

The September 13 finale will now serve as the series finale for the show.
