Saved By The Bell Reboot Coming To NBCU Streaming Service

NBCU’s newly named streaming service, Peacock, announced a slew of new shows along with acquired fan favorites and one that stood out was a newly unveiled reboot of Saved By The Bell.

The reboot will feature original cast members including Elizabeth Berkley & Mario Lopez. Saved By the Bell recently celebrated its 30th anniversary last month & originally was a high school set comedy that ran on NBC for four seasons from 1989-1992. The series made stars out of Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Lopez, Berkley, Dustin Diamond, Tiffani Thiessen, & Lark Voorhies. The show was followed by a spinoff series that ran for one season in 1993 called Saved By The Bell: The College Years.

The new Saved By the Bell  features Zack Morris as governor of California, and when Governor Morris gets into hot water for closing too many low-income high schools, he proposes they send affected students to the highest performing schools in the state, including Bayside High. The influx of new students gives the privileged Bayside kids a dose of reality.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who played Zack Morris on the original series, is currently starring on Mixed-ish but has expressed interest in the reboot. Emmy-winning 30 Rock writer-producer Tracey Wigfield is executive producing the project for the streamer.
