Scott Derrickson To Direct Bermuda With Chris Evans Eyeing The Lead

Scott Derrickson has booked his next directing job after departing the Doctor Strange sequel. It has been announced that Derrickson will travel to the Bermuda Triangle in Skydance’s Bermuda, and Chris Evans is said to be circling the lead role.

The action-adventure film has been long in development and Skydance has been trying to get it off the ground for awhile now. The project finally picks up some steam with Derrickson at helm but what’s interesting is that Sam Raimi was once attached to direct the project and now Raimi is in talks to take on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a film that Derrickson left over “creative differences.” Shall we call this an even swap?

Derrickson will be rewriting the script with his writing partner C. Robert Cargill and he will also executive produce. Much of the plot is being kept a secret except for that fact that it will be set in the mysterious patch of the Caribbean where planes and ships have gone missing over the years.

Despite being in development since 2013, no studio is attached to the film yet but Skydance has likely made some ground by securing a talent like Derrickson and the package will look even sweeter if Chris Evans officially signs on. Evans is coming off a great 2019 which saw him appearing in Avengers: Endgame, which became the highest-grossing film of all-time worldwide and playing against type by channeling his inner sleaze in the hit film, Knives Out.
