Reel TV Ratings: (Friday) – Once Upon A Time Has So-So Premiere In New Friday Night Timeslot

Once Upon A Time made its move from Sunday to Friday nights for its seventh season and predictably the show was down versus last season’s premiere but it wasn’t a horrible showing for a Friday.

The show drew a 0.7 among adults 18-49 and 3.26 million viewers. The series was third in its timeslot, a tenth of a point behind MacGyver (0.8 demo rating, 6.39 million viewers) and Hell’s Kitchen (0.8 demo score, 2.73 million viewers) and was behind last season’s premiere of 1.3 on a Sunday night.

Now, a 0.7 is roughly an equivalent to a 1.0 on another night (Friday ratings are about 30 percent lower typically), which would be on par with OUAT’s average last season. If the show doesn’t go completely fractional on Friday nights, it could have a shot sticking around. It’s also owned by ABC so syndication money and ad revenue is still a big factor for the series. Also on ABC, Inhumans fell a bit from its premiere, coming down two tenths to a 0.7 demo rating and 2.77 million viewers. The best that can be said is that it tied its lead-in but if it drops more, the show is in real trouble.

MacGyver and Hawaii Five-0 (1.0 demo rating, 8.37 million viewers) matched their debuts last week on CBS, while Blue Bloods slipped a tenth to a 1.0 demo score and 9.32 million viewers. On Fox, The Exorcist held steady at a 0.5 demo rating and 1.50 million viewers.

How did your Friday night shows do last night? Will there be more drops? Check back next week for the Friday ratings recap!
