Splash Remake Coming Soon with Channing Tatum and Jillian Bell in Reversed Gender Roles

Disney has green lit a remake of 1984’s Splash, the cult fantasy hit film that launched the career of Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. The twist?

Tom Hank’s character,  Allen Bauer, will be played by Jillian Bell (WorkaholicsThe Night Before), while Channing Tatum has signed on to play Daryl Hannah’s mermaid, now merman. Original director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer have signed on to remake the project with this gender twist.

What do you think? Should Splash be remade?
