The CW’s All American Has Soft Premiere On Wednesday While Empire Remains On Top

The CW continued another soft night in the ratings as they rolled out more premieres last night. Overall, Wednesday night was relatively steady with Empire taking top honors once again.

The news was a bit mixed for The CW last night, beginning with Riverdale, which opened its third season with a 0.5 in the demo and 1.52 million viewers, in line with its 2017-18 average but down from the 0.8 for its premiere last fall. Its finale last season drew a 0.4. All American followed with a modest 0.2 demo rating and 710,000 viewers, on par with The CW’s time-period average last season. I really hope this show catches on because the pilot was pretty good and it definitely has potential.

On FOX, Empire was once again the top scripted show of the night as it matched last week’s 1.5 demo rating and 5.06 million viewers. Star registered a 1.3 demo rating and 4.25 million viewers and was one of three shows to tick up versus last week.

On NBC, Chicago Wednesday’s proved to be successful once again with all three of the Chicago shows matching their numbers from last week: Chicago Med (1.3, 7.98 million viewers), Chicago Fire (1.3, 8.22 million viewers) & Chicago PD (1.2, 7.09 million viewers).

On ABC, American Housewife (1.0, 4.32 million viewers) & Single Parents (1.0, 3.66 million viewers) ticked down a tenth week to week but I still think that Single Parents is holding steady enough to keep ABC happy for now. The Goldbergs (1.3, 5.05 million viewers), Modern Family (1.4, 5.08 million viewers) and A Million Little Things (0.8, 3.68 million viewers) were all steady.

On CBS, SEAL Team (0.9, 5.56 million viewers) and Criminal Minds (0.8, 4.61 million viewers) were the other two series’, other than FOX’s Star, to see an increase in the demo week to week.
