Prodigal Son Becomes First New Series Of The Fall To Receive Full-Season Order

Fox can claim early bragging rights for the Fall TV season. Prodigal Son has become the first new series of the fall to receive a full-season order.

The pickup of nine additional episodes will bring its total to 22 & it makes total sense as the series has been the demo winner across all new shows, although the bar is being set lower & lower due to live TV viewing dwindling even lower this season so far. Prodigal Son’s first two airings earned a 1.0 same-day rating in adults 18-49 and rose to a 1.5 demo score after three days of delayed viewing. Both marks are the best for any new series so far in the fall. The September 23 series premiere, which brought in 4.05 million total viewers the night it aired, has risen to 10 million including delayed viewing, streaming and on-air replays.

Prodigal Son stars Tom Payne as criminal profiler Tom Bright, who has a unique insight into the minds of serial killers — because his father, Dr. Martin Whitly, is one. Micheal Sheen has earned raves as Dr. Martin Whitly & Scandal’s Bellamy Young also stars.

Prodigal Son airs Monday’s at 9:00 PM on Fox.
