McDreamy could possibly be headed back to television. Grey’s Anatomy alum Patrick Dempsey has landed a starring role in the CBS pilot, Ways & Means.
Ways & Means is a Washington D.C. drama that centers on a powerful congressional leader (Dempsey) who has lost faith in politics. He finds himself working secretly with an idealistic young congresswoman from the opposing party to subvert the hopelessly gridlocked system he helped create; together, they’ll attempt to save American politics — if they don’t get caught.
The pilot was sold to CBS with Dempsey attached to the project so if the final product is strong, CBS is probably eager to be the network that brings the actor back to TV. Dempsey starred for 11 seasons on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy as neurosurgeon Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd. When Dempsey exited the series in 2015 he starred in two international series, The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair, which aired in the US on Epix, and Sky’s Devils.
