Apple is finally releasing details for its forthcoming streaming service, Apple TV+, including the release date and pricing.
Apple TV+ will roll out its first original series at the launch and then add more originals every month. This will begin on November 1 with an introductory price of $4.99 per month. CEO Tim Cook made the announcement during the companies product event at its Cupertino headquarters.
Apple is including more incentive for customers who buy an iPhone, iMac, or Apple TV. Those who do so will get one year of Apple TV+ for free. That option fits with the widespread expectation that Apple would seek to leverage its installed base of hardware to give the new service a boost.
The launch would get it out ahead of the November 12 start of Disney+ as all of the streaming services including Netflix, Amazon & Hulu will all be vying for consumer attention. There are also more on the way with HBO Max and a streaming service for NBC to name a few.
Cook also stated the trailers for their forthcoming original series’ set to launch on the service have gotten a great reaction with over 100 million views to date.
