NBC has had good luck with the recent revival of Will & Grace, so it’s no surprise that the network is looking at another former long-running sitcom to dust off for a new audience. The network is said to be close to reviving the workplace comedy, The Office.
Speculation about the network wanting to revisit The Office with a new cast and developer Greg Daniels started last summer. At the time, NBC stressed that there were no negotiations being made but the idea was being tossed around.
Talk about a revival of the series has only grown in light of the ratings and critical success of another NBC comedy revival, Will & Grace. That series was recently nominated for a Golden Globes for Best Comedy and it has been warmly received from fans.
The Office reboot/revival would again be set at Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton, PA., branch with a mix of both old and new cast members. Steve Carell, who starred as the branch’s regional manager Michael Scott, is said to not be involved and the character would likely be recast.
The talks are are heating up so much about the revival that it’s rumored it could happen in the 2018-2019 TV season. Can NBC make this revival another hit? Stay Tuned!
