Nick Jonas is taking his turn in the spinning chairs of The Voice. The singer/actor has been added as a coach for season 18 on the long-running singing competition series.
Meredith Ahr, president of Alternative and Reality Group at NBC Entertainment, had this to say about Jonas joining the show:
“As a member of one of the hottest pop groups, Nick’s success in navigating all aspects of the music industry is exceptional. We were so impressed by his innate musicality, technical aptitude and passion that he brought to Songland earlier this year and know he will be an incredible fit as a coach on The Voice.”
Jonas will be joining Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend on the spring cycle of the show. He will be replacing Gwen Stefani, who is currently a coach for the current fall run. The Voice is known for rotating judges in and out so Stefani is likely not leaving for good, just taking time to focus on other career endeavors. Longtime coach, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, recently exited the series after being with the show since its start in 2011.
Nick Jonas is best known as part of the pop group, The Jonas Brothers, who is having a big comeback year with a successful single and new album. Nick has also seen solo success as well and has also put in work as an actor on the series’ Kingdom & Scream Queens as well as films such as Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle and the upcoming Midway and Jumanji: The Next Level.
