Tim Burton has lined up a new project that seems right up his alley. A live-action Wednesday Addams series has been set up at Netflix & Burton is attached to direct.
The project was first reported on back in October as being in development but no network or streamer was attached at the time. Netflix has since become attached & has given the series an eight-episode order. The series, based on the character created by Charles Addams, is a young adult TV series described as a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. She attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
The character of Wednesday Addams has been portrayed numerous times in film & television. Perhaps the best-known take is from a young Christina Ricci who played the character in two Addams Family films in the 1990s. Lisa Loring played the character in the 1960s TV series & Chloe Grace Moretz voices the character in the animated films.
