Netflix Sets Live-Action Carmen Sandiego With Gina Rodriguez Attached To Star

It looks like Netflix is expanding on the Carmen Sandiego brand. After announcing an animated series for 2019, the streaming service has now set its sights on a live-action film adaptation with Gina Rodriguez attached to star.

Rodriguez, who is also voicing the title character for the animated series, will produce Carmen Sandiego through her I Can and I Will productions alongside Kevin Misher and Caroline Fraser. Publisher and learning company Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) is the owner of the Carmen Sandiego property. Caroline Fraser is head of HMH Productions and is the executive producer of the Carmen Sandiego Netflix original series and feature film. A line of books from HMH featuring Carmen will launch in 2019 timed to the series release.

The film will be a standalone adventure for the title character and as of this writing, no director or writer has been selected for the project.
