Dwayne Johnson is feeling the heat. A week after it was announced that Avengers: Infinity War was moving up a week from May 4 to April 27, Warner Bros. has decided to move Rampage from April 27 to April 13.
The move, sources say, is a direct result of the Avengers move. With this shift, it gives Rampage a 2 weeks cushion to bring in some money before Avengers comes and takes the world by storm.
The Avengers and Rampage move also impacts Ready Player One, Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the Ernie Cline sci-fi novel. That movie, which opens March 30, would have enjoyed three weeks as the sole tentpole in the market but now that has changed. So many blockbusters, so little time.
Rampage, which has been getting positive responses from test screenings, adapts the 1980s video game as it tells of three creatures — a monstrously transformed gorilla, crocodile and wolf — who wreak havoc on a city and the man who must stop them.
