Kingsman: The Golden Circle NYC Premiere Canceled, Fox Donating Budgeted Money To Hurricane Telethon

In a very gracious move, Fox has cancelled the NYC premiere of Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which was set for the same day as the hurricane relief telethon. The studio will instead donate the money budgeted for the premiere to the telethon event.

Fox released a statement saying:

“Given the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey and the important fundraising efforts happening on September 12, we have canceled that evening’s planned New York film premiere event for Kingsman: The Golden Circle. To that end, Twentieth Century Fox Film will be donating the money budgeted for the premiere to several of the non-profit groups associated with the telethon.”

Other events and screenings planned for the action sequel starring Taron Egerton and Colin Firth, including its London premiere on September 18, will go on as scheduled.

The hourlong telethon will feature appearances by Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, Julia Roberts, Barbra Streisand, Reese Witherspoon and other stars as it raises money for victims of the awful flooding Texas and Louisiana. Organizers said this morning that they are expanding the relief effort to include those who might be affected by Hurricane Irma, which is looming off the Atlantic Coast.
