James McAvoy Confirmed For X-Men: New Mutants By Split Co-Star

The X-Men franchise is keeping a familiar face for the next phase of their films. Anya Taylor-Joy, who co-stars in Split with James McAvoy and is a part of the New Mutants film, says that McAvoy is indeed involved as Professor Charles Xavier.

The actress also said that the wheels are moving fast enough for a 2017 start date which could set the film for a 2018 release date.

The New Mutants adapts the monthly comic book series of the same name that launched in 1982. Created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, “The New Mutants” follows a group of teenage mutants as heroes in training in the Marvel Universe. Director Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) is set to helm the feature, which will boast a script by Boone & Knate Lee and Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber.
