In the continuing growth of fans wanting extended cuts of their favorite superhero films, Marvel is getting in on the action as Tim Story’s Fantastic Four, the 2005 film will have the extended cut of the film, which was released on DVD in support of the 2007 release of Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, is headed to HBO Max in July.
The extended cut was first released in June 2007. Wikipedia broke down the in both cuts of the film stating,
“It incorporated about 20 minutes of deleted scenes, and also included a preview of the sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. The DVD expanded on The Thing’s relationships with Alicia Masters, Doctor Doom’s manipulations to break up the group, and the Human Torch’s womanizing, and how it backfires.”
2005’s Fantastic Four movie was the first officially-released film based on the characters, as the 1994 low-budget movie from producer Roger Corman, was never released. A documentary about the making of the 1994 film, Doomed!: The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four was released in 2015.
