The dueling crowns of Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie are about to seek out some awards attention with the release of Mary Queen of Scots and we now have the first official trailer.
Directed by Josie Rourke, the period piece explores the lives of Mary Stuart (Ronan), who in 1561, returns to Scotland as a widow grieving in the shadows of her reign as Queen of France. At the time of her arrival, Elizabeth I (Robbie) hols the English throne, and quickly grows anxious over Mary’s presence, which threatens her rule.
Mary Queen of Scots hits screens on December 7.
