Upon its debut, Queens Gambit became one of the most-watched series on Netflix and now its director Scott Frank is not only getting deserved buzz but new projects as well. Speaking to The Watch podcast, Frank teased a number of projects.
Frank is also working on the development of a Sam Spade TV series that he is hoping Clive Owen will star in. In his pitch for the upcoming project, Frank stated,
“What if you do Sam Spade later in life and he’s 60s years old?”
“He’s now an ex-pat living in the South of France. His past comes to his past and finds him in this small town. It’s going to be a six-episode series with Clive Owen.”
Frank is also working on an adaptation of Nabokov’s Laughter In The Dark with Queen Gambit’s own Anya Taylor-Joy. Frank calls the project
“a valentine to movies, I’m going to do it as a film noir and a movie within a movie. And it’s a really nasty, wonderful, thriller.”
