Disney+ Moves Original Series Release Days From Fridays to Wednesdays

While this could be a sign of the theater industry becoming a standard of Friday night entertainment once again, Variety reports that Disney+ is making a big change will now starting releasing its original series episodes on Wednesdays instead of Fridays, the streamer announced.

The news comes on the heels of the launch of the Marvel Studios Loki series on the platform, which has now released two episodes on Disney Plus as of June 16. The Variety reported added that the decision will apply to all scripted, unscripted, and animated series going forward. Disney Plus’s original movies will continue to be released on Fridays.

The move will officially take effect for all other Disney Plus shows aside from Loki beginning in July. As such, the premiere dates of multiple shows including Monsters at Work and Turner and Hooch have moved to the new premiere day.

“Behind the Attraction” from July 16, 2021 to July 21, 2021
“Chip ‘n’ Dale: Park Life” from July 23, 2021 to July 28, 2021
“Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts” from July 30, 2021 to July 28, 2021
“The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” batch 2 from July 30, 2021 to July 28, 2021
“Growing Up Animal” from August 20, 2021 to August 18, 2021
“Short Circuit” season 2 from July 30, 2021 to August 4, 2021
