Apple TV+ is throwing more love behind their series Dickinson. The half-hour comedy series starring Hailee Steinfeld has been renewed for a third season and the news comes way ahead of its season 2 launch which is scheduled for January 8, 2021.
The early renewal comes a few months after the show’s creator, showrunner, and executive producer Alena Smith scored an overall deal with the streamer. Dickinson is also one of the most well-received shows on Apple TV+ and the renewal means it is the first original series to make it to a third season on the platform. Joining as guest stars for the second season are Nick Kroll, Timothy Simons, Ayo Edebiri, and Will Pullen.
Dickinson explores the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of rebellious young poet Emily Dickinson (Steinfeld). Set in the 19th century, the series is a coming-of-age story that finds Emily to be the unexpected hero for the millennial generation. The show also stars Jane Krakowski, Anna Baryshnikov, Ella Hunt, Toby Huss, Adrian Blake Enscoe, and rapper Wiz Khalifa while the series also saw recurring stars such as Finn Jones and Pico Alexander.
