In a television climate where new shows typically drop significantly after their premieres, Rise held pretty well for NBC for its second episode.
The show scored a 1.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 5.53 million viewers, down 0.1 from last week’s premiere at 10 p.m. It had a somewhat smaller (but still strong) lead-in with The Voice (2.1, -0.1, 10.75 million viewers) vs. the 2.8 for the This Is Us season finale a week ago. Chicago Med ended their night with a 1.2 demo rating and 6.86 million viewers for NBC, off two tenths of a point from its last episode two weeks ago.
The ABC comedies all improved week to week: The Middle (1.3, 5.79 million viewers) and Black-ish (1.1, 3.89 million viewers) were up two tenths each, and Fresh Off the Boat rose by a tenth to a 1.0 demo rating and 3.64 million viewers. That goodwill didn’t carry over to For the People, which was down two tenths from its premiere to a 0.6 demo rating and 2.73 million viewers. I sense trouble ahead for this new series.
On The CW, Black Lightning held steady with a 0.5 demo rating and 1.54 million viewers. This was without the benefit of a new episode of The Flash so it would appear this show is a self starter and renewal is virtually guaranteed.
On FOX, The Mick (0.7, 2.05 million viewers) ticked up a tenth while LA to Vegas did the opposite and fell a tenth to a 0.6 demo rating and 2.18 million viewers.
