Creed II KO’s $3.6 Million In Tuesday Night Previews While Ralph Breaks The Internet Leads With $3.8 Million

With the new wide releases expanding today, they got off to their Thanksgiving start last night and Creed II is already proving to be a contender at the box office while Ralph Breaks the Internet already has the support of the kids

Creed II grossed $3.6 million last night in Tuesday night previews. This figure beats Creed‘s $1.4 million pre-Thanksgiving Tuesday night by 64%. The first film posted a first day of $6 million and a five-day of $42.1 million and with this start, Creed II could be looking to gross as much as $55 million in five days. Even more amazing is that Creed II‘s preview numbers beat those of MGM’s Quantum of Solace ($2.5 million off showings that started at 8 PM, not 7 PM), and a slew of sequels such as Blade Runner 2049 ($3.5 million) and Kingsman: The Golden Circle ($3.4 million). It’s being reported that Creed II finished strongly on the West Coast last night with solid numbers across the nation in such cities as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, Miami,  Orlando, Boston, Tampa, Cleveland & Baltimore.

Ralph Breaks the Internet got preview showings started at 5 PM last night and grossed $3.8 million, just slightly ahead of Creed II’s preview gross. The good news for both films is that they are both the best preview showings ever for Thanksgiving week. In terms of preview gross, Ralph beat fellow Disney animated Thanksgiving offerings Coco ($2.3 million) & Moana ($2.6 million). Animated films tend to surge as the days progress, especially as the weekend starts so Ralph Breaks the Internet is likely to widen the gap between itself and Creed II.

Robin Hood also got started last night with a Tuesday night preview gross of $800,000 at 2,100 locations. The film also held Monday night paid sneaks which grossed $400,000, so between the two days the remake has $1.2 million in the bank so far. The movie is booked at 2,715 locations today and will increase to 2,827 locations by Friday. Budget info for the film finally came in and has it just under $100 million so if it can gain traction overseas, it may not be a bad investment for Lionsgate.
