Blumhouse Reportedly Closes In On Writer To Pen Sequel To 2018’s Halloween

I initially thought this story was a mere rumor but multiple outlets are reporting that Blumhouse has closed in on a writer to pen the sequel to 2018’s Halloween.

The writer in question is Scott Teems, who is no stranger to horror or Blumhouse. He recently adapted two Stephen King novels, Firestarter, and The Breathing Method, for the production company. Last year’s film was written by director David Gordon Green, as well as Danny McBride and Jeff Fradley.

According to “Collider”, Halloween’s three leading ladies, Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak, are also set to return. Curtis has previously stated that she would be interested in returning for another film, depending on the creative team. It’s also being reported that Jason Blum will be heavily involved & Gordon Green and McBride are expected to executive produce the sequel. As for John Carpenter, there is no new word if he will score the sequel but he did express interest during the promotion of last year’s film in returning to provide the sequel with his signature score.

It should be noted that Blumhouse has yet to comment on these reports but those in the know say the info is legit & should be confirmed soon. Apparently, Teems wrote a treatment for the sequel that really impressed Blumhouse.

Halloween 2018, which served as a direct sequel to 1978’s Halloween, ignoring all the original sequels, proved to be a massive hit when it was released in October. The film grossed $159.3 million at the domestic box office and $253.6 million worldwide on a $10 million budget.
