Billy Dee Williams is heading back to a galaxy, far, far away!
The actor who famously played Lando Calrissian, will reprise the role for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX.
The rumors about Williams joining the cast increased over the past few days when Williams cancelled an appearance upcoming sci-fi and pop culture convention citing a conflict with a movie schedule.
The announcement was first reported by Hollywood Reporter that Williams will indeed be returning to the Star Wars film franchise for the first time since 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
Over the past few years, Williams has reprised his role within the franchise as he voiced Calrissian in various cartoon series and video games. Most recently, Donald Glover slipped on the cape to play a younger Calrissian.
Episode IX is being directed by J.J. Abrams and will reunite Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver. No word on the role Lando will pay in the upcoming film.
The film is set to open Dec. 20, 2019.
