Deadpool 2 Stunt Person Dies on Set

Tragedy struck the set of the upcoming Deadpool 2 on Monday as a stunt person was killed on the set. Vancouver Police confirmed that a female stunt driver died on set during a motorcycle stunt. Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds released a statement which stated that the entire cast and crew were heartbroken over the loss.

Director David Leitch also said he is “deeply saddened by the loss of one of our stunt performers today. No words can express how I and the rest of the Deadpool 2 crew feel about this tragedy. Our thoughts are with her family, friends and loved ones in this difficult time.”

While no additional information was made immediately available on the circumstances of the accident, SAG-AFTRA released a statement on Monday afternoon, in which they promised to launch its own investigation.

“We are all grieving the tragic death of a stunt performer on the Deadpool 2 set today. Our hearts and prayers are with her family, friends and fellow cast and crew members. The safety of our members and other production professionals on set is a core concern and top priority for SAG-AFTRA. Accordingly, we are sending a field representative to Vancouver and are investigating the incident.”

The British Columbia coroner’s office is also launching an investigation.
