American Housewife Solid In New Friday Night Home

CBS usually is the clear winner on Friday nights and while that was still mostly the case, American Housewife got solid results for its fourth season premiere in its new Friday night time slot.

ABC’s American Housewife made its Friday debut and scored a 0.7 demo rating with 3.39 million viewers. While the series came in predictably down from the 1.2 demo score that its season 3 premiere scored last fall (when it still aired on Wednesday nights), the ABC comedy did match its season finale from this past spring and debuted fairly well in a notoriously difficult Friday night time slot. American Housewife actually tied CBS’ Hawaii Five-O as the top show of the night in the 18-49 demo. The season premiere of Fresh Off the Boat followed American Housewife with a 0.5 demo rating and 2.44 million viewers, down from its 0.6 demo average last season.

On CBS, Hawaii Five-O tied for the night’s no. 1 spot among adults 18-49, despite its 0.7 rating being down two-tenths from its season premiere a year ago. The series scored 6.80 million total viewers. At 9 PM, Magnum P.I. made its Friday night debut with a 0.6 demo rating and 6.36 million viewers, predictably down from the 0.9 rating that the series averaged Monday nights last season. The season premiere of Blue Bloods ended the night for CBS with a 0.6 demo score, also down two-tenths year-to-year. The veteran drama did, however, pull in the night’s largest audience, with 7.82 million viewers.

Friday night actually doesn’t look all that bad compared to the rest of premiere week, especially considering Friday is a very difficult night. Nothing to rave about no total misfires on the night.
