Despite Ryan Murphy departing FOX for a deal with Netflix, FX is staying in business with him for another season of American Horror Story. The horror anthology series has been renewed for a tenth season.
“Ryan asked for a 10th season of American Horror Story which we were happy to give to him,” FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said. Landgraf continued saying as Murphy recently moved to Netflix for a big overall deal there, he “remains pretty committed” to his FX slate, and he is “really excited about Pose,” which was just renewed by FX for a second season.
American Horror Story is set to premiere its 8th season on September 12th, which is the highly anticipated crossover between Murder House and Coven. Will season 10 be the last for the series? “I don’t know,” Landgraf said. “A lot of that comes down to Ryan and whether he still feels inspired about it. I think the eighth cycle, which is currently in production, is awesome and crazy, and I think the fans will really like it. Part of what’s cool about American Horror Story is its anthology nature. So it comes down to whether Ryan and his collaborators, like (showrunner) Tim Minear, could come up with stories that they are excited about.”
Season 8 of American Horror Story premieres on September 12.
