Remember when a lot of us were skeptical of the live-action Aladdin? Fast forward to this summer & it’s one of the true box office highlights of the season. Not only is it a box office hit of the summer but it’s also a personal milestone for its star Will Smith because it just became the highest grossing film of his career.
Will Smith confirmed the news with this Instagram post:
Aladdin has made $876,027,859 worldwide and counting. It still ranks high each week on the domestic box office charts, always just behind the new releases and usually ahead of whatever came out the previous week. Aladdin has made $305,861,946 domestic so far and $570,165,913 internationally after this weekend. Independence Day made $817,400,891 worldwide, from a very similar split — $306 million domestic and $511 million worldwide.
