12 Monkeys will be returning for a fourth season on Syfy but it will also be the last for the sci-fi series.
Based on the 1995 film of the same name, the Syfy series follows weary time traveler James Cole (Aaron Stanford) and virologist Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull) as they attempt to save the world from the Army of the 12 Monkeys, who released a plague that killed off most of humanity. Season 4, which is expected to debut in 2018, will consist of 10 episodes.
The third season will debut on May 19 at 8 p.m. ET. In a surprising move, Syfy will air the entire 10-episode season over three consecutive nights starting Friday, May 19 and concluding Sunday, March 21 — the first four episodes will premiere on Friday, with three episodes airing each night on both Saturday and Sunday from 8 p.m.-11 p.m. ET.
