Writers Guild Film Nominations Announced

Awards season continues to move along after kicking off last night with the Golden Globe Awards and now we have the nominations for the 2019 Writers Guild Awards.

Mirroring much of what has gone on this awards season, we have a mix of commercial hits and prestige critically acclaimed films that made the cut. The Original Screenplay category includes  Eighth Grade, Green Book, A Quiet Place, Roma & Vice. The Adapted Screenplay category includes BlackKklansman, Black Panther,  If Beale Street Could Talk, A Star Is Born Can You Ever Forgive Me?

Despite receiving a nomination at the PGA Awards for Outstanding Producing, Bohemian Rhapsody is missing from the list and it just shows you how topsy-turvy this awards season has been. After its win for Best Picture – Drama at the Golden Globes and a nomination at SAG for Best Ensemble, you would think it would’ve also scored a WGA nomination but that was not to be. Will it still get the Best Picture nomination at the Oscars? Only time will tell.

Winners will be announced Sunday, February 17, at dual ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York City.
