Woody Harrelson Joins Han Solo Star Wars Standalone Film

Disney and directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have announced that Woody Harrelson has been cast in the upcoming Star Wars standalone Han Solo: A Star Wars Story – it hasn’t been officially named yet. The film is the second in a series of films that live outside the Skywalker family saga. It will be set in the early days of scoundrel Han Solo, prior to A New Hope.

No specifics were released as to who Harrelson will play, but he joins fellow cast members Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo) and Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian) on screen. Lord and Miller expressed their excitement at Harrelson’s casting,

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”

The standalone film is set to hit theaters sometime in 2018.
