One of the bigger surprises of 2017 was the box office performance of Wonder. The film debuted with stellar reviews and opened well beyond its initial box office tracking when it had to go against Justice League back in November. From that $27 million domestic opening weekend, the film has now grossed a massive $202.5 million worldwide.
$124.3 million of that comes from the domestic box office while $78.2 million comes from overseas grosses. Overseas, it’s currently playing in 65 markets with majors to come including Germany and China.
The $20 film has been embraced in foreign markets that usually cater to family fare. The best offshore play to date is Brazil where films like this especially do well. It grossed $16.6 million there through the weekend, retaking the No. 1 spot in its 4th weekend, growing 29% over the previous frame. Latin America as a region has grossed $33 million and is on its way to $40 million.
