Wesley Snipes may not be our Blade anymore but he’s certainly getting to hang out with royalty. The actor has joined Eddie Murphy is the highly-anticipated sequel, Coming 2 America.
Snipes will play a new character, General Izzi, a man who rules a neighboring nation. This will be a reunion between Snipes, Eddie Murphy, and the sequel’s director, Craig Brewer. The trio recently worked on the upcoming Dolemite Is My Name.
The sequel sees Akeem (Eddie Murphy) returning to America in order to find his long-lost son. Arsenio Hall is already onboard to reprise his role as Akeem’s best friend. The original 1988 film saw Prince Akeem, a spoiled prince from the fictional African nation of Zamunda, arriving in Queens, New York, and in undercover fashion gets a job at a McDonald’s knockoff while trying to find a wife.
Coming 2 America is set to start production this fall.
