Washington DC Area Film Critics Association Names Parasite The Best Film Of The Year

The Washington DC Area Film Critics Association became another critics group that has given Parasite a continued boost in the awards season race. The WAFCA named the critically acclaimed film Best Film of the year as well as Best Foreign Language film along with a Best Director win for Bong Joon-Ho.

It was a bit of business as usual with some of the acting categories with Adam Driver winning Best Actor for Marriage Story & Brad Pitt claiming Best Supporting Actor for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Jennifer Lopez is still a part of the conversation with a Best Supporting Actress win for her role in Hustlers.

Is Lupita Nyong’o about to get a Best Actress nomination at the Oscars? Critics do tend to vote differently than The Academy but given that Jordan Peele’s, Us was released in March and Nyong’o is still very much in this race, shows that she has a fighting chance. The actress pick up a Best Actress win from the WAFCA for her role in the film.
