Warner Bros. Sets Release Date For Matrix Sequel On Same Weekend As John Wick 4, The Flash Speeds To 2022

Warner Bros. has set release dates for two high profile releases among others & unless they shift one of them, a particular actor in one of the movies will be competing with himself.

The Matrix 4 has been slated for release on May 21, 2021. The funny thing about that is this happens to be the same tentative release date as John Wick: Chapter 4. Both films feature Keanu Reeves so either someone is moving or we get to see a true Keanu Reeves weekend at the box office & I’m honestly ok with that.

Other big release date news goes to The Flash, which is actually still happening. The DC Universe film is dated for July 1, 2022, a pretty confident date that allows it to play the Independence Day holiday frame. The Flash joins other DC release, Aquaman 2, in 2022 (December 16). Ahead of The Flash will be Birds of Prey (February 7, 2020), Wonder Woman 1984 (June 5, 2020), The Batman (June 5, 2021), The Suicide Squad (August 6, 2021) & Black Adam (December 22, 2021). As far as I know, Ezra Miller is still set to play The Flash.

Warner Bros. has also set release an August 21, 2020 release date for their untitled Fred Hampton project, the biopic of the Black Panthers revolutionary. The studio also has a name for its latest Conjuring Universe film: The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and it already has a September 11, 2020 release date. The studio is also moving up Mortal Kombat from its original March 2021 date to January 15, 2021.
